Puffy Eyes Begone!

How freaking annoying is it to have swollen eyes? Honestly the worst. You just look like a disaster. I sometimes get puffy eyes due to allergy and tis the season for allergies right now, so yes I may look like a monster some days. So how the heck do you get rid of them? Lets go over a few ways.

First of all allergy medicine (obv in my case) will help to bring down swelling and irritation. I don’t know the ingredient that does this, so don’t harass me, this is basically all I got. It will help with swelling, alright?

Secondly you can lay a FREEZING cold cloth on your eyes, or even wrap ice in a few layers of paper towel. (You don’t want to put ice directly on your eyes as it could cause damage) The cold will help to reduce swelling and puffiness, however it will take about 20 minutes to notice a difference, so don’t be one of those people who set the ice on their eyes and are pissed that there’s no difference 3 minutes later.

Cucumber slices are also calming, so lay some cool slices on your eyes and lay back and relax. They help to clear up the water retention that is causing the puffiness in your eyes. This again will take around 20 minutes to notice a difference.

Placing cool tea bags on your eyes is another popular remedy for swollen eyes. Try a chamomile as it is calming, and the caffeine will help to not only reduce swelling but will also help to wake up the eyes and make them look more alert. If you don’t have chamomile tea, try just a regular black tea. Again, this will take about 20 minutes, nothing comes in a moment people!

The classic spoons trick. Put a few spoons in the fridge to chill, then apply to the eyes to reduce swelling. Honestly you could put almost any object that’s cold on your eyes and it will reduce swelling, it just the cold that does that. So, put a cold  whisk on your eye and the swelling will go down. Probably won’t be that comfortable but it will help.

I also read that if you apply preparation H (yes the hemorrhoid cream) to your eyes that it will help to reduce swelling. However you don’t want to get this in your eyes, but there’s not a lot of things that you do want to smear into your eyes.. I have read a few people online saying that this stuff is crazy good for it, but I have never tried it myself.

Lastly, apply a puffiness reducing eye cream to help your swelling go down. I don’t have to explain that this would take the swelling down because it says it in the name..

Hopefully it goes down quickly! What do you do with your swollen eyes? Anything I missed out?
