Relaxing Baths

Every now and then we need a day of relaxation, and even just a bath can help. But why soak in water when you can make your bath so much more beneficial and wonderful?

1. Looking to soften out your skin? I have already gone over this bath before; milk and honey. The best choice is to pick a full-fat or powdered milk and a pure honey. The lactic acid in the milk is exfoliating so it will smooth out roughness in the skin. If you use a full-fat milk it will also moisturize the skin. Honey works as a humectant (helps to retain moisture) to keep your skin well hydrated.

Pour yourself 1-2 cups of milk and 1/2 cup of honey under warm, running water. If you don’t want the powdered milk to get all over everywhere then put the powder into an old sock and tie off the top: you still get the benefits of the milk without having powder all over and having this awful scratchy feeling.

2. This is for everyone who feels like they need a drink at the end of the day. Pour a glass of champagne or red wine into your bath and swish it all around. Feel like a waste? It still works when it’s flat and shitty! What does it do? This is not only softening for the skin but also anti-aging. Red wine has polyphenols which are incredible antioxidants. Champagne has tartaric acid. These both help to reduce discoloration and fine lines, as well as cleanse pores and reduce their appearance. This doesn’t mean you should pour red wine and champagne on your face daily but, a bath every so often is lovely. Also, as a bonus, you’ll feel hella pimp sitting in a pool of alcohol. Pour yourself a glass of red wine and dump a good old splash of your bottle into your bath.

3. Pretty classic idea putting epsom salts into your bath. Your body will soak up the magnesium in epsom salts when you bathe in it, adding on to its list of benefits. The magnesium helps to soothe aching muscles, relax you, regulate blood pressure, and regenerate and heal skin cells. The salts themselves help to reduce swelling, heal bruises and detoxify yours system.

Add about 1-1 1/2 cups of epsom salts to your running bath water. If you’d like to have a wonderful smelling bath as well add 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oil to your bath. Then soak in this luxurious bath.

4. Want a soothing bath? Throw in some oatmeal (aw yah love dat shit). Fill a sock with oatmeal and tie off the top of the sock and toss into your bath. When you get in, squeeze the sock to release the oatmeal into the water. The oatmeal will help with dry, itchy skin, acneic skin, oily skin, and aging skin. It will also soften your skin and make you feel brand new. Before getting out, scrub yourself with the sock to get a little bit of exfoliation and really penetrate your skin with that oatmeal.
