The Coconut Oil Challenge

This is happening. And it’s happening now.

Coconut oil is kinda all the rage right now for those do-it-yourself-ers. But it seems to me that it’s kinda hard to get all the information in one place about everything that it can do for you. So that’s why I am here. And I will categorize it for you. Bitchessssss….

To help with damaged ends, massage some coconut oil in the ends of your hair a half an hour before going in the shower.

Massage some in your scalp in the shower to reduce dandruff.

Use as a conditioner in the shower.

Prevents protein loss from hair – leaving hair looking healthier and luscious.

Seals and retains moisture in the hair.

Helps your hair grow.

WHY? Coconut oil penetrates the shaft of the hair strand so that it can plump and make hair appear thicker – thus looking healthy. It will also keep the hair from splitting – which will let the hair grow “faster”. Coconut oil also keeps the hair from dehydrating which will prevent your hair from looking ratty. As for reducing dandruff, that is because it hydrates the scalp.

Anti-aging benefits.

Hydrates the skin – doesn’t clog pores for oily skin types.

Reduces acne.

Reduces wrinkles.

May also help with problems like eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions.

WHY? Coconut oil is a full of antibacterial benefits to help with acne – prevents bacteria from spreading and kills the bacteria that is there. Hydrates the skin as it is hydrating, but will not clog the pores at is a natural product that your body can understand and absorb easily. Anti-aging benefits and wrinkle reduction come from the excellent hydrating benefits as well as antioxidants found in coconut oil. Eczema, psoriasis and other conditions may be helped by being hydrated without all the chemicals and with a natural product that the body can absorb – also it is gentle.

Helps with weight loss.

Stress relieving.

Helps to ease digestive problems.

Stimulates the metabolism.

Heals open wounds quickly and prevents infection.

Helps with kidney problems.

Helps strengthen bones.

Increases immune system.

WHY? Well this is going to take a few minutes of your time, sorry about that..

Weight loss and metabolism: Coconut oil contains a specific type of fat which help to reduce weight. The oil is also easy to digest and helps the thyroid to function which helps you work off weight and metabolize better. Having a better metabolism reduces stress on the pancreas which in turn helps to burn more energy and weight.

Stress relief: put a little coconut oil on your temples by rubbing in circles, the smell of coconut is naturally soothing to the body.

Eases digestive problems: Coconut oil is a natural antibacterial and by ingesting it it will help with parasites, fungi, bacterial issues, and may also help with IBS and digestion problems.

Heals wounds: Again, because of the antibacterial properties putting it in a cut will help to kill bacteria, but it also makes a layer which helps the cut to heal.

Kidney problems: helps in preventing kidney and gall bladder diseases, and also helps in dissolving kidney stones.

Strengthens Bones: Coconut oil increases the ability to absorb important minerals in our body. This means that we can absorb calcium and magnesium easier which are essential in bone production.

Immune system: Strengthens the immune system because it has antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties which works for your body. This means that the immune system has a little friend working with it (like the pill in that movie osmosis jones..).

So now that we know that coconut oil has so many benefits, you might as well go pick one up and try it.. For everything. I grabbed myself a container of it today and I’m going to see how I like it, however I’m challenging myself to use the whole thing even if I don’t like it at first. After reading all this, I feel like it will be hard to convince me NOT to use it. Let me know how you like it!

  1. Good to know! I’m a huge fan of the argan oil stuff (it smells amazing and does a thousand positive things to my hair), but it can get expensive because it’s still so trendy. I’ve also been using cocoa oil products (I think that’s what it’s called…it kind of smells like truffles and coconuts? yum!) so I’ll have to add coconut to my repertoire! 🙂
